So to give everyone the proper story that is happening with Yellow.
SpaceLab Yellow is closing its doors at the end of June 2008. They will be doing a week of special parties with the last nights being the 20th and 21st of June. They have not announced to the public yet on who will be the final DJ's for the closing nights.
The building owners informed Yellow quite sometime ago that they are planning on demolishing the building sometime after July. Yellow will not be re-opening in a new place. Yellow has been around for 16 years in it's current site and to be honest to re-open under the same name somewhere else would not be the same.
The stories about the police closing Yellow down are false. The stories about a law stating that no dancing after 1AM to 5AM is true. It's a very old law from WW2 to stop burlesque dancing and has not been changed since then. The clubs here always run the risk of them being charged with that law. Some club owners have tried to get the law changed but club owners here do not work together like they do overseas.
Yellow also did manage to pick up some bad patrons last year and this year as well which caused some issues with the local police which involved them shutting the main dance floor.
Such a sad time to see the place go and I have been going there for nearly 9 years and have DJ'd there as quite a few times. For the house music fan, there is now a lack of venue which has the warmth and soul that Yellow had and that sound system could not be replaced by any other place.
Any other news I get will be passed on.
