does the autogain thing lower soundquality?
for my Empath mod. And yes, it's still for sale. Buy a regular Empath and my mod panel and you can switch the faders back and forth.
I've never used a 2016 so I cannot comment on it's sound but I do think the Empath sounds better than the Pioneer DJM-600.
Autogain--I don't like it nor use it. I don't think it degrades the sound, but it sure does fatigue my ears quickly.
Here's what the Rane (Rotary) Empath has that the BIG Rane rotary MP 2016a/XP 2016a does NOT have:
*Compact size—it’s only 10” wide and 14” deep.
*One unit—Rane’s rotary is actually two units.
*Contour Controls—you can set the volume curve of channels 1 and 3 and also adjust the crossfader curve.
*Auto-Gain— prevents performance-wrecking swings in program level when changing sources. The music is never too soft or clipped.
*FlexFX—post-fader external stereo effects loop with individual Dry/Wet pan controls for Mic and Input Channels 1, 2 and 3—MP 2016a only has an effects loop switch.
*2 assignable CD triggers
*Headphone tone control
*1/8” headphone jack (in addition to standard ¼”)
