nice video, just a shame that the audio is done badly, and the interviewer has no idea what he's talking about.

Like many kids who grew up in the South-West of Germany in the early 90s, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always waited eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US style house was the ruling sound. In the following years his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. In 1998 Gerd Janson finally had his first DJ residency at Darmstadt’s Café Kesselhaus.

For the past ten years Gerd Janson has been serving the hottest house and disco cuts at Offenbach’s Robert Johnson where he is hosting the Liquid club nights with DJ heavyweight Thomas Hammann. Gerd Janson is without a doubt one of the hottest talents on the German DJ circuit. The word has spread and so he is travelling a lot as a DJ. When not spinning records he is known as a prolific music journalist writing for Groove magazine or Spex, or he is busy working for Red Bull Music Academy.

I suspect Gerd was pretending not to know the tech stuff in order to get Tony Andrews to expand on certain points for the viewers. Standard disingenuous interviewer technique.

Oh, and I'm not American and I didn't know it was Gerd Jansen.
But I do know who he is. And have at least one record that he produced.

I had never heard of Gerd before. Not saying he's not good at audio, but there are plenty of famous DJs and producers out there that know almost nothing about it. It's a pretty cool interview though. And long.

that could very well be the case. But, why would you ask a man like Tony Andrews for a lecture and then try to dumb it down? Then again, thats my opinion.

and no, I did not know who Gerd was untill today, so learned something again!

it is the red bull music 'academy' it's where young people who are into electronic music and production get to meet new school producers and experienced industry heads in a comfortable environment.....the video is a taster of the day where they tackle subjects in more detail.

if you think an 18yr old guy would understand velocity in air and various other highly technical things explained by mr andrews fair enough but most pa operators don't even understand some of the stuff he was talking about so i would hardly critique it in such negative fashion....it was in a very relaxed non condescending way made interesting by tony and gerd....some of you guys are so negative on here.....jeez.

it was an educational, enthusiastic presentation for youngsters not a freekin' a.e.s. meeting......
