Hako makes excellent soldering irons and soldering stations. Also Weller.

Hakko 936. Most of the people doing their own diy audio swear by it.

I really like the butane iron/torches. No wires , heats fast, and the torch is a godsend for shrinking and brazing.

Goot. Best soldering irons by far.
Japanese made.

For local ones, I do like the Weller iron as well.

Goot are pricey. I don't have a preference, as long as i have a selection of tips and can control the temperature.

Yes, GOOT IS GREAT, so is HAKO! However, price becomes the determining factor in making a purchase, and GOOT and HAKO stations become quite expensive. If one is doing the occasional DIY project, WELLER is quality product, at an affordable price. If your a professional that uses soldering stations on a daily basis, then invest in the best you can afford.
