Rack or Flightcase for Urei, VU & ISO

Hey,

This is my first post here - I've been checking out the posts and have had lots of insights to help me buy my mixer set-up -Urei 1620LE, e&s x3004 and a stageline VU.

What is the best option to rack these?

I have contacted the guys at Soundactive.jp and have an option to purchase the R3 table rack AL-3W - with the exchange rate and shipping option it's quite expensive and I won't get it for a few weeks.

Just wondering if there's any other options, i.e a flightcase etc?

I'm in the UK.

PS

Excellent forum by the way

Could anyone please point me in the direction of a flight case that would take the le, isolator and vu meter a bit like this pic:

i think that's just a "normal" 5RU flight case that's been attached to the console....

notice the hook going through the handles...

Thanks a lot, so something like this: http://cgi.ebay.ie/6U-rack-amp-flight-case-Swan-Flight-2-door-hex_W0QQitemZ180347327968QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Mus ical_Instruments_Rack_Cases_MJ?hash=item1803473279 68&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2 |65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Is 5u harder to get than 6u, would it have to be custom built?

exactly....

i would just buy the larger size for when you decide to put another
unit in...

and get a blank or perforated blank to fill in the empty space in the meantime....

i dunno which size is more common....

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/produc...rs-515-eu.html

i ended up getting a rack holder;

I sawed off the ends.

I have to take it out on Friday to a party and wished I had got the flightcase now - i'm getting one now though.

I really didn't like my mixer sitting that far upright, I prefer it flatter.

This is what I did before my DJR400:

Found these awesome concrete blocks near a construction site in the city. It worked PERFECTLY and I didn't even have to bolt the mixer in, I just slid the blocks closer to each other until it the mixer was secure and it wasn't going anyway. I played the best set of my life at my house party on this set up exactly like this, was wicked!

Before this, I considered just getting two pieces of 4X2, screwing them to the middle of the table table, a mixer length apart, parallel with each other and have 30cm or so hanging over, and resting the mixer on the hung over part. This way you could have you turntables right in front of your mixer and right next to each other. It sounds a bit ghetto, but I think it would be really affective. I've seen someone do this before, but I can't remember where.

Ghetto look

For mine I just got a 50 quid shitty MDF computer table from argos that I got years ago..used various setups on this from studio using shelves for kyeboards and the side bits which fit 19" rack gear perfect to now turntables lol

This was in 2004..

Same desk now...I just cut that hole out to fit the Urei..there was a Denon rack mount in there before the Urei

Martin,
do you not get any reverberation from the B+W' s on that thin mdf top ?
Especially when you start pushing them.

What about something like this...

According to Gator Case you can get one that is 6U on top and 2U on the bottom. I'm not sure how deep the UREI is but you may only have room for 1U on the bottom which is perfect for a power strip which is always nice to have.

Hi guise. I got this SKB XRACK4 (4U) from Thomann.

Suits my needs perfectly now that I won't have my LE permanently installed anywhere. The depth is around 25cm and that still leaves room for XLR-connectors. The rack itself is very light. Not sturdy, but protects my gear from damage. Even 16 rack screws were included. 88 euros.

There are also 2U and 3U versions available.

What about Odyssey?

Hey Lel, I just created my own "party box" setup that I am using for gigs around town (to hell with all of these crappy soundsystems in Boston! I'm bringing my own!).

It sounds like I have more gear in my setup than you would, but I am using the Odyssey FZ1004 (10 spaces on a slanted top, 4 spaces on bottom). The thing is grat, just a bit of a beast (I still can fit it in the back seat of a VW Jetta)

You can check it out here:
http://odysseygear.com/products.php?sku=fz1004

...or the FZ1002, which may be more size appropriate:
http://odysseygear.com/products.php?sku=fz1002

Also look at the FZ19 (might work if your VU and E&S on the bottom, but might not be deep enough with XLR's plugged into your outs):
http://odysseygear.com/products.php?sku=fz19mix

Will try to post pics soon.

Thanks for all trhe suggestions guys

I ended up going for this 6U case for the mixer etc, they give an option of centre box depth - 300mm, 400mm & 450mm. Went with the 300mm option;

...and 3 of these for my turntables;

I can have the 3 turntable cases in a row and the mixer case in front of the middle turntable case.

I would have considered the odysseygear if I had checked this thread recently

Thanks again!
