Rare Richard Long DiscoSound Crossover.

This is about as vintage RLA as you can get folks. This is the first RLA crossover created by Richard Long himself.

Where it says low freq that goes to your bass amp, Hi freq to your tweeter array and subsonic to your full range speakers. Your full range volume is controlled by the mixer. Actually I'm listening to it now, using the subsonic output and it's sounds pretty good.

too cool.......

so, was Acoustilog involved in "Discosound Associates" at all?

reason I ask is that I have an old Acoustilog monitoring panel where an old faceplate was reversed and cannibalized for the new piece.... the cannibalized faceplate was a discosound X1000 faceplate...

seems like there may have been a connection somewhere in that time...

I guess the question should be...

Did Richard Long literally make these products or, were they manufactured by another larger more established company?

Best Regards,

I talked to Alan Fierstein he said that Richard in fact did build this crossover. He ( Alan Fierstein ) built the others that followed.

Did you ask him the specs on the unit?

If you plan on using it it would be beneficial for you to know that. Unless you are going to bench it to find out.

Best Regards,

He didn't build the unit so I didn't ask him the specs but there's a little sticker on the bottom of the unit dated from 1978 it says Bass 100hz, Tweeter 7khz.

This was the picture that first caught my attention, then I went to Mario's house and he has a grainy picture of one. A week later, I found one.

If that is enough for you, enjoy the processor.

Its kinda weird to have the Tweeter on the left and the Bass on the right side.

I've searched high and low but there's just not much info on this crossover at all. I'll guess I'll get it fully bench tested one day to get all the specs. It's probably similar to the RLA X3000

except you can't turn the full range down (at the mixer) and concurrently have the tweeters and subbass going at a consistent level, right?

still cool...
