UREI 1620 must be pretty hard to find these days

Maybe a useless post but it got me thinking. If there were only 5000 made, Im going to guess theres only 4000 still around. Judging by Ebay sales, 1/2 of these have probably made it to japan by now leaving 2000 in the US belonging to people that would probably go to the grave with them.....just an observation...

82 is the first year of production....I've heard people say 93 and others say 95 was the last. Best bet is to call Everett Watts over at JBL. He's one of the last few original UREI employees and would know more than any of us here.

First run UREI 1620 #100 IN 1982 last mixer #5000 in 1993 I own this mixer.

Everett Watts is no longer @ JBL and its been a few months now. Everett's Mom worked @ UREI Incorporated / JBL PROFESSIONAL. She was involved with the creation of the 1620. Everett has been a great help to me for many years. Its amazing that 15 years has flown by.

sorry guys 1993 error corrected

The latest model I've seen was from April '93.

I tried to buy a new one (built to order) in summer 1993 and was told they'd discontinued it literally 2 weeks previously. I can check through my receipts from the time (I ended up with an MP24...seemed ok at the time...), but it was definitely discontinued in '93.

What? what happened? Did he retire, quit or what? That really sucks. He was a great help. Got me a great deal on 3 1620LE's when there were ony about 20 left at the factory and a few years ago he got my 4 brand new Eon G2's for $300 a piece when they easily went for double that in stores. That shitty news

I would estimate only about 3500 to 4000 built. Keep in mind they were not consecutive serial numbers.
