Well it looks like the space is going to become Stereo Miami. I'm not sure if this is an Angel Moraes or a David Morales venture. David ownes the one in Montreal but Angel had the rights to the US, and thus he opened Stereo NY.
There was alot of talk about that system being one of the best sounding systems at WMC last year. I think it got an award. Stereo Miami opens Nov 24th with Peter Rauhofer, for the white party.

Danny Tenaglia called out Twilo Miami a while back.

TWILO MIAMI is NO MORE!

From Danny Tenaglia:

SO SAD TO SAY THIS PEOPLE
BUT THERE TRULY WAS "NO HOPE" -

I will spare the details of many, many people's joined opinions!

11th Street in Miami has become:
THE MOST GHETTO OF CLUBLANDS -
THAT MY EYES HAS EVER WITNESSED!
AND THIS TRULY SADDENS ME DEEPLY! -

And, I don't care who has an opinion of my opinion! -

MIAMI (like many others) is being completely taken over by:
Hip Hop, Reggaeton, VIP rooms,
Way too many Non Intelligent "Teenage Dropouts"
with gangsta tattoos up their necks, etc
and many with "Weapons"
and driving all around passing all the clubs & Ocean Drive.

Security People that SHAKE DOWN PEOPLE more than
anywhere else I have ever heard of ....
(Not all are Corrupt ... But MANY are!)

* Even people on this board have SAD ELEVATOR STORIES! -

HORRIFIC BUZZY ELECTRO & DATED PROGGY TRACKS
THAT SOUND LIKE "FLASHDANCE"
(still with Love & Respect to Deep Dish, but
the bad wanna be's that followed! UGH "I CRINGE"

THEN THERE'S THE CHEESY ROCK & ROLL MASH-UPS
LIKE PINK FLOYD'S "THE WALL" -

THE LYRICS SAY: "WE DON'T NEED NO EDUCATION" (zzzz)

Well, I danny tenaglia,
(a DJ for over 3 decades) disagree 1000%!

And I can educate ALL in Deep, Techno
etc, and give Free Dance Classes too!

OK .... I released my frustrations! - (((NEXT)))

HAHA! Danny should stick to DJing. His prose leaves something to be desired. But at least he didn't type this in ALL CAPS, like he so prone to do. Sorry, but I think I will take my future predictions from the likes of Nostradamus.

If it is Angel, then it will be impecable as always. And for the record Angel built the first Stereo Mtl sound system. If it is a Morales venture, then I would guess it will be Steve Dash as that is who is doing Stereo Mtl currently.

On a side note. I was told by a few women up in Montreal, who went to Stereo when it was Angel's sound system, that there was a spot on the dance floor, where the bass vibrations were localized at the right hight and intensity, so that they could have an orgasm if they stood in this spot. Apperently this was by design.

the system in stereo mtrl is currently serviced by ppl in montreal with help from dash

the original system was by far the best system in north america in its time
then shorty got ahold of it and fine tuned it to even better spec

as far as vibrations go the same bass bins are still there and they do resonate a lot im sure if one were inclined they could achieve this effect

i prefer the way it was when shorty was servicing it and when angel had it

curently it still sounds amazing and still has that old school feel but it can get loud like way louder in the mid range now that its all run from a dbx 4800 digital loudspeaker management controller
and ive heard rumors that they have a djm 800 there if a dj wants it and it used to be that you had to play on the urei or nothing at all

the system is 6 levans 12 jbl scoops 12 sbs mid boxes 6 2395 tad loaded horns 12 slots and 4 quad bullet arrays with crown/bryston/lab gruppen amps

It was never "or nothing at all". All the techno DJs would require a Pioneer 500 and then 600 mixer and Stereo would hook it up for them. It would sound awful in there on those nights.

I'm heading up to see Rob Brown and Derrick Carter there tomorrow night. I would guess that Derrick will have an A&H as that is what he plays on.

He'll be on the 800 I suspect.

He used to request the Pioneer 500 at Stereo before A&H became popular.

I read in a magazine interview that he (Derrick Carter) hates using those Rane rotary mixers and prefers to play on the Pioneer DJM-600, itís in an old copy of IDJ before the 800 was even out, I think it's from arround 2002.

It all comes down to preferences I guess but I don't see how any house dj could "hate" playing on a good rotary. He does like to slam his mixes in alot though so i guess that makes sense. Either way Derrick Carter absoloutley rocks.

Yeah, I was shocked by reading that too! But as you said it all comes down to preference anyways Derrick Carter is still a fucking awesome DJ!
My mags are up in the loft and everywhere (somewere behind the toilet? hahah) lol but I managed to find the original article on the magazines website, sorry he didnít use the word hate lol I just remembered it wrong , he said he didnít like the rotary ranes and preferred a pioneer DJM-600

i wish he'd go the A&H route - he's a great DJ, but sometimes it ends up sounding like heavy metal by the end of the night.

i can understand why he wouldn't like a rotary though, his style is very much suited to a fader mixer, and i can't imagine him without channel EQs and a crossfader.
say what you will about that style, but on a good night he's magic.

i still enjoy that old mixmag CD.

yeah derrick does rock

out of all the pioneer mixers the 500 is the most well built ive owned every incarnation of mixer from pioneer and the 500 was the one i took the screwdriver to the least

chicago house especially requires the faders because of the nature of the music its fast and very repetitive and very condusive to cuts and drops and given the right conditions this sounds great

peas

so how much is this twilo system?

How much are they selling the Twilo Miami system for?
Out of all the nightclub YouTube videos, that system sounds the best to me.

Now...

I am not sure if Phazon is still Steve Dash... (they are using his SDX stuff)
but isn't Steve Dash working with Integral?

Who has the lowdown on Steve Dash and his history?

I don't like Derrick Carter. I use to live in Chicago for a while and only one time I liked his set. There were plenty of time I just left. It was loud. Fast. Anoying. Almost hard techno sounding. No soul what so ever.

I think people remember the way he use to play. To each their own.

Well, DC's set was really good. Rob killed it befor and after. A great time indeed. I enjoyed hanging out in the booth. I noticed they had a rack of "Australian Monitor" amps. I think there where 8 of them. In adition to
the Crown D-75s and the Crown Techs. Anyone know anything about these?
