Born into the world from a DJ father, Tony Lionni has been following soul music since the age of 7, and has been creating an archive of hip-hop, house, street soul and funk ever since. With roots in music founded by pure passion, this 12” begins with the song “Joy” vamped chord bits, syncopated ride hits and a bouncy bassline, offering just enough room for the delayed lead stab to breath throughout the mix. As another syncopated organ jumps in, the movement begins, and the whole track starts to evoke the depths of the human soul. With an atmospheric haze deep in the mix, your mind travels and the late night journey begins. Steady all the way, this cut is for the 5am rump shakers.
“The Chase” starts with smooth modulated chord pads, and soon invites a jumpy bass groove to join the mix. Carrying a load of shuffled cymbals and percussive synth stabs, the playful staccato hits leave plenty of room for the drifting synth madness to begin.
